Fine Hand Repairs
We take great pride in the restoration of fine rugs.
We have mastered time-honored techniques for restoring worn, old oriental rugs to their original beauty. This type of work can be a time-consuming and sometimes costly affair, Other times, a small fix is exactly what’s called for.
Each hand made rug is a piece of art (not to mention history) and we will be happy to give you several options based on the age, value and quality of your rug. Naturally, there is never a charge for a consultation when you visit our shop for your oriental rug repair.
Please feel free to call us with any questions regarding oriental rug repair. You can also e-mail photographs of your rug along with a description of services needed.
Overcasting – Overcasting is a “lock stitch” done between the warp and weft threads which run the length and width of a rug, forming its foundation. This stitch is used to stop or prevent unraveling.
Repairing Tears – Hand knotted rugs are sewn together by hand using a very durable waxed Irish linen thread.
Re-Coloring – This is an inexpensive option (as opposed to re-weaving) when your rug shows signs of wear due to traffic patterns or years of use.
Reweaving – Reweaving is the art of replacing missing or damaged pile. This discipline takes years of experience, something we’re pleased to be able to offer our customers.
Pick up and delivery available throughout the greater Lehigh Valley and surrounding areas.
