Appraisals
Both Kevin and Gary Ward are certified appraisers having satisfied all the requirements of the USPAP (Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practices) and being members in good standing of the Appraisers Association of America.
Oriental Rug Appraisals from Ward's include a technical data sheet detailing many of the technical aspects of the carpet being examined. Here the focus is on the textile itself, i.e. the construction, knot count, dyes, foundation, condition, age, etc. In addition to the technical data sheet, Ward's provide a narrative of the carpet where the “story” of the individual carpet is told in language that can be understood by those outside the rug world. Lastly, Ward's provides high-quality photos for identification purposes. Each carpet gets 2 complete packages of technical data sheet, narrative, and photos.
Kevin and Gary have also completed the “Fine Oriental Rug Course” offered by New York University. Additionally, both hold certificates from various other professional organizations geared toward carpets, their care and their value. Ward's provides comprehensive appraisals for carpets, whether for insurance, estate or other purposes (e.g. donations, etc.) We are always happy to provide an opinion to our customers who do not need a formal appraisal but want to know what type of carpets they have and their values. This is a service we provide an no charge.
